Every mechanism that we implement for security is referred to as a control. Security controls are categorized either by how they are implemented, or the purpose of that control. How controls are implemented include controls that utilize technology called technical controls, policies and procedures called administrative controls, or physical controls that we can touch such as locks and fences. The purpose of a control might include preventing malicious attackers, detecting malicious activity, or correcting the damage done from an attack.
In this video, we are going to talk all about security controls with actual examples that you can implement in your company. Like a mechanic and their tools, understanding security controls will help you implement the correct tool depending on the task at hand.
