I appreciate your interest in sponsoring my content and am excited about the potential opportunity to work with you!

All the below terms apply to the sponsorship engagement with you (your brand, company, etc.) unless documented in your invoice or a contract agreed upon by all parties.

Standard Conditions

The parties acknowledge and agree that this Insertion Order is subject to the terms of the Standard IAB/AAAA Standard Terms and Conditions for Internet Advertising for Media Buys One Year or Less, v3.0, a copy of which can be found on http://www.iab.net/media/file/IAB_4As-tsandcs-FINAL.pdf, which are hereby incorporated by reference.

If there is a conflict with the IAB terms and the Sponsorship Terms provided on this page by Jon Good, the terms provided on this page by Jon Good shall be what is required.

Advertisement Pitch (Standard Embedded Ad)

You, the sponsor, must provide the advertisement for the content. Some sponsors provide a prebuilt advertisement ready to go (i.e., graphic, video/audio clip, visual, etc.), while others prefer to provide a pitch/script to be used in the content. The option used for your sponsorship will be determined as part of the negotiation discussions.

Below are specifics that you shall follow:

  • Length: 60 seconds max (30-45 seconds is ideal to maintain viewer retention).
  • Visuals: Indicate your website pages or other visuals to display based on the pitch.
  • Call-to-Action: Provide the link or landing page to direct viewers.

NOTE (1): If you are providing a script, it is recommended to read it before submitting it to ensure it fits within the required time limit.

NOTE (2): It is recommended to include room for natural pauses in all advertisements, as the best ads are not stuffed full of words.

NOTE (3): Scripts will be read before recording to ensure they are paced appropriately. If they are too wordy, we may recommend minor shortening adjustments for the best delivery.

NOTE (4): We reserve the right to modify the script/pitch if necessary for the best delivery, but the responsibility is ultimately yours, the sponsor, to provide us with a quality script/pitch. We will not make major adjustments to your script/pitch.

You, the sponsor, shall submit the agreed-upon final artifact (advertisement video or pitch/script) within two weeks (14 calendar days) of the confirmed sponsorship engagement invoice.

Advertisement Placement

We aim to place your advertisement in the most ideal position within the content, giving it the best opportunity to perform. We feel that some advertisements do better with a build-up, and some are better placed earlier in the content.

In long-form content, we typically avoid showing an advertisement within the first minute at all costs because, in our experience, viewers do not like that. That said, we can certainly discuss the placement of the advertisement if you have a desired location. Remember, once the script is made, it can be challenging to change the location of your advertisement, so we recommend letting us know very early in the process and before we start creating the content.

Content Changes

All parties agree upon the engagement details (i.e., scope, topic, etc.) before beginning the development of the content. Changes can unexpectedly impact content delivery and are much more challenging to implement the further we are into the production process.

Significant Change Requests shall be submitted at least two weeks (14 days) before the content delivery date. These requests will be reviewed but are not guaranteed as these typically introduce additional workload into the production process (i.e., scripting, filming, editing, etc.).

Minor Change Requests shall be submitted at least one week (7 days) before the content delivery date. These requests will be reviewed, and generally, at least an attempt will be made to incorporate them into the content.

Ethics

By sponsoring content, you agree to my Ethics statement and agree on how the engagement will be conducted.

Exclusivity

Standard sponsorship engagements with our content do not include exclusivity rights. We reserve the right to have multiple sponsors and advertisements throughout the content. We intend to avoid promoting direct competitors within the same piece of content. However, we cannot control if sponsors within a piece of content decide to become competitors after content is published. Content will not be removed should this development occur.

We also leverage other advertising programs to include, but are not limited to, Google Adsense and the YouTube Partner Program (YPP), which display/promote advertisements throughout the content that we do not control.

If you want to be guaranteed as the exclusive sponsor promoted within a piece of content, please let us know, and we can discuss exclusivity options, but all parties must agree upon this, and it must be documented in a formal agreement.

Payments

Standard payment terms are due in full within 30 days (NET30) of the date that the sponsored content is published or delivered to you, the sponsor. (See note below)

Payment terms may vary for ongoing or bulk sponsorships, such as shows that are not one-time engagements.

If payment is not completed within the required timeline, you may be subject to late fees in addition to the original amount.

NOTE (1): Your invoice will include a “Date of Issue” and a “Due Date,” which will identify the estimated publishing/delivery date and the date at which payment(s) is due. If no date(s) are provided, your due date automatically becomes NET30 from the publishing/delivery date.

NOTE (2): Alternate payment terms than NET30 may be required for your engagement. These may include payment before work starts, partial payment upfront (deposit), installment payments, or payment in full at the time of content delivery/publishing. If this is required, you will be notified as part of your agreement.

Retaliation

You, the sponsor, or anybody affiliated with your company/brand shall not commit retaliatory acts towards me (Jon Good) or your sponsored content.

All content is created to provide absolute honesty to my viewers and with good intentions. I do not take sponsorships that I believe would negatively impact my viewers. The goal of every sponsorship is to make sure the objectives of the content and sponsor are in alignment to provide a superior sponsorship experience.

Platforms like YouTube have a “report content” or “content strike” feature that can harm future publishing and monetary earning abilities. Any use of this option towards myself or my content, sponsored or otherwise, will be considered a retaliatory act and put you in violation of these terms.

Reuse

Unless specifically documented in a formal agreement with me (Jon Good), you cannot republish, repurpose, copy, or modify the sponsored content.

NOTE: This does not prevent you from embedding the media if delivered from the original source. For example, the embeddable media player from YouTube allows playback on your website.

Schedule Changes

The day and time selected to publish content is based on analytics to give the content the best performance opportunity. That said, sometimes, there is a need to change the schedule based on other initiatives.

You, the sponsor, shall make schedule change requests in writing at least one week (7 days) before the current scheduled day and time. Although this does not guarantee the change can be made, we will undoubtedly accommodate it if possible.

Term Violations

We select what we believe are good sponsors and want to achieve our shared mission.

That said, failure to meet the above terms may delay the creation of your sponsored content and subject you, the sponsor, to other penalties documented throughout these terms, including but not limited to incurring additional expenses and/or legal action.
